Dog Days of Summer
The dog days of summer have finally arrived after enjoying lower temperatures than normal. This week we are experiencing our first 90 degrees days of the year!
Along with the temps, the economy continues to heat up with record highs in the Dow as well as a new high for the S & P. Retail sales in July were virtually unchanged from June mainly because of flat auto sales. The July numbers did reflect a 3.7% increase over July ‘13 which is positive. We hear that retailers are still optimistic about the balance of the year barring any surprises internationally.
We have just finalized a program with a new licensee in South Korea which will be launching a line of cell phone covers, tumblers, mugs, pillows and canvas bags. This will be concentrated only in their market. They are enthused about their new line and feel it will be quite successful. We share their enthusiasm and are looking forward to a long and profitable relationship with our new partner in South Korea.
Another licensee, SD Entertainment will be launching the first of a four part series telling the story of WWll, as reported through The Saturday Evening Post.
This will give the reader a unique opportunity to read about the events of the war from Post issues reproduced in their entirety. The first release will be titled “Writers At War” and will include stories by many of America’s greatest writers including Salinger and Faulkner. We will keep you updated on this project as it continues to roll out. Follow this project by clicking on these links! :
We will be attending the New York Tabletop show in October to visit with licensees. Tabletop Unlimited will introduce new kitchen and tabletop collections featuring Post content. We have been very involved in the product development process and are very anxious to see the response from retailers. We are looking forward to seeing these products on the retail shelf.
Please let us know what you are being asked for and continue to challenge us for content. We too are sometimes surprised what we are able to uncover!
