May Retail Sales Show Increase
Retail sales for May are in and according to the US Census Bureau; sales in May reflected a 1.2% increase over April and a 2.7% increase over May 2014. General merchandise sales were flat and most of the increase came from Home Improvement, Lawn and Garden and auto. Given the time of year, this makes a lot of sense. The majority of the country is busy working outside and planning the summer vacations.
We just returned from the International Licensing Show in Las Vegas. We were quite busy at the show and felt there was more of a sense of urgency with the licensee. The take away from several of our meetings this year was to move forward with a license. It is too early to see if these deals actually materialize but it was a positive sign. Our meetings with existing licensees also went well and most were looking for additional content. We are all busy with follow up and optimistic about the opportunities.
We continue to have a nice reaction to our adaptive collections and our ability and willingness to manipulate our illustrations and content to meet their needs. Cabin/Lodge, Coastal and travel still continue to be on trend. Our Holiday collections always attract attention and interest as many feel we offer the best in the industry. We left the show feeling it was one of our better licensing shows in recent years.
If we did not see you at the show please contact us with your content needs. We welcome the challenge and are confident we can answer your needs!
We will not be in Atlanta this summer but will be exhibiting at Brand Licensing for the first time in October.
Hope to talk to you soon.
