LICENSING SHOW BOASTS STRONG ATTENDANCE
We just returned from the Licensing Show in Las Vegas. This was the 34th year for the event and I believe Curtis has been in all but one. We were told the pre-registration was up double digits going into the show, and our traffic reflected the increase. Our meetings at the show were up and 40% of our meetings this year were with international companies.
It is always interesting to hear current trends internationally and see what countries are leading or following trend in the United States. Americana and retro are two trends that continued to surface in our international meetings. A recent trend report in Housewares Smart Brief quotes Tom Mirabile, of Lifetime Brands, identifying Vintage Americana as a strong trend in the US. Tom refers to the trend as “visual comfort food” and mentioned retailers such as Urban Outfitters, and Wayfair already showing bedding, enamelware and prints featuring this look. This is all good for us and Curtis as well as our licensees as we definitely have content to support this trend! We also had a very strong reaction to our new Seed Art and Floral collections.
These looks can adapt to several types of products and also appear to be on trend.
We will now follow up with our requests from Licensing Show and let you know what materializes into agreements and products.
