Licensing Show Traffic Steady

The U.S Census announced retail sales for  April 2017 reflected an increase  of 0.4% over March and also an Increase of 4.5% over April 2016. Non-Store Retail continued to show the biggest movement posting an 11.9% increase over the same period last year. Hopefully we will continue to see these increases during the summer months.
We just returned from the International Licensing Show in Las Vegas. The traffic was steady and we were busy with appointments and drop-ins.  Our total meeting count was down approximately 10% from last year's show but the quality and interest level seemed to be better. We did notice a major drop in International attendees at this show. We attribute this change in the recent expansion by Advanstar adding shows in Japan,Brazil,China,UK and Dubai.

These new venues definitely effect the need for some attendees to spend the money and time to travel to the US.  As this initiative expands and additional countries are added it will further erode the International traffic in the US. The current status of International economies contributes to the lower attendance as well. This was a topic brought up in almost every meeting. Retail and business overall is tough worldwide. This further supports our efforts to align ourselves with quality agents to represent our Brand in these areas.

This year at the show, Advanstar continued to promote their matchmaking service linking licensees and licensors. Throughout the show floor and entrance they displayed billboard size pictures promoting the concept. Our own Nicole Beer’s picture was the feature photo to support the program!

This show also gave us a chance to meet with our International Agents to discuss our Brand and interview a couple agents for new markets. These meetings always seem to have positive results and will hopefully help generate additional business and interest Internationally.
We are done traveling for the Summer. Please keep us in mind for all your content needs. We will happy to dig for content and adapt in necessary to your exact needs.
