Closing out 2014 Strong

It is hard to believe that it is December and we are closing out 2014 and making preparation for 2015. This year began extremely slowly at retail mainly due to weather. Much of the country fought cold and snow and many stores were forced to close. As the weather finally began to warm, so did retail. Fortunately, the third and fourth quarter has continued to build and it looks like we will finish up the year ahead of projections. November retail sales rose .07% which is the best gain in 5 months. These numbers do NOT include cyber Monday which fell in December this year. If things continue on track, consumer spending could rise 3% in the fourth quarter over 2013.

The decline in prices at the pump will also give retail a unexpected shot in the arm which appears will continue into 2015. Consumer confidence continues to grow which has forced the projected fourth quarter growth rate to an annual rate of 2.2% from 2.0%.  This has been a remarkable turnaround from Q1. Hopefully this will result in strong retail sales and buyers will come to the January markets with money to spend and space on their shelves.
We continue to fulfill requests from licensees for illustration suggestions, as well as product mock-ups. Many manufactures are taking up our offer to create product mock-ups for them. We enjoy doing this especially as it has proven to help in the placement at retail. Please keep us in mind on upcoming project and art requests!
Last month we were contacted by Tylenol expressing interest in using “Freedom from Want” by Norman Rockwell as the theme for a Holiday online video.

The theme of the campaign is “For What Matters Most”. We recently finalized a licensing agreement with them and the video launched on 11/26/14. So far,  we have heard many positive comments. It was extremely well done and we are hopeful they will build on the success with additional impressions.

Our next show with be Atlanta and we have already begun scheduling our time. We look forward to seeing many of you there.
Thanks for a good 2014 and we wish all of you a Happy Holiday and New Year!
